USC football has an incredible chance to upset a highly-ranked Ohio State team this weekend that will be starting an inexperienced true freshman at quarterback.

The Trojans’ Week 8 loss to Wisconsin put USC’s playoff hopes on life support. A win against the first-place Buckeyes could flip the market for USC football odds back toward playoff contention.

At BetMGM, USC is currently +1900 to make the 2026 College Football Playoff.

USC College Football Playoff Prediction

I am predicting USC will miss the 2026 College Football Playoff.

I like USC’s chances against Ohio State this weekend, as I wrote in my Week 9 early bets. But even if they pull off the upset, the Trojans are still a two-loss team with two top 10 games to go.

Even with a season-defining win against Ohio State, USC is likely to finish the season with at least three losses. The resume would have to be overwhelming to sneak into the back of the playoff field at that point, and USC’s just isn’t.
