Los Angeles Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto recorded the last complete game in the MLB playoffs during Game 2 of the 2025 World Series.

Yamamoto threw 105 pitches in a 5-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, allowing one run on four hits while recording eight strikeouts. The performance came 11 days after he threw a complete game against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 2 of the NLCS.

Before Yamamoto’s two complete games in the 2025 postseason, the last complete game thrown by a pitcher in the playoffs came in 2017 when Justin Verlander did so for the Houston Astros.
