The Washington Wizards begin the 2026-27 season with an over/under of 34.5 in the NBA win totals market at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

Wizards Over/Under Wins 2026-27

Wizards Win Total Prediction

  • Under 35.5 wins (+100) — Pick made on Aug. 12

I like the under on the Wizards’ win total (35.5) because the market has made too big of an adjustment in a deep Eastern Conference.

Washington’s win total is 15 games higher than last year’s over/under, when it went 17-65. The only team with a bigger increase in its preseason win total is the Utah Jazz (17).

In a way, it makes sense that hopes have improved the most for these two teams. Both franchises made notable trades at last year’s deadline. And they both added a blue-chip prospect in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Personally, I believe the Jazz are closer to contention than the Wizards, but the future might be brighter in the nation’s capital. Washington selected AJ Dybantsa with the No. 1 pick to form a strong young core that includes Tre Johnson, Kyshawn George, and Alex Sarr.

Veterans Trae Young and Anthony Davis (both added via trade last year) should help bridge the gap for this young roster. Young can orchestrate a strong offensive attack, while Davis is best known for his defensive presence.

The problem is neither player can be counted on at this stage of their careers. Davis has played 71 total games over the last two seasons, while Young logged just 15 contests last year.

At full strength, the Wizards can be competitive and will rank high on my league pass watch list. But if either Young or Davis is out of the lineup, this is a young squad that might be a year away from making a playoff push.
