  • The 49ers are 0.5-point favorites against the Chiefs in the first half.
  • Oddsmakers are expecting points early in Las Vegas.
  • San Francisco has excelled at avoiding defeat in the first half.

Ahead of Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, I’m here to offer a 49ers vs. Chiefs prediction.

Rather than focusing on the full game spread or total – be sure to check out those Super Bowl LVIII Predictions – I’ll break down the first half below.

Here’s a look at those NFL betting lines for Super Bowl LVIII, along with my bets for the early action.

49ers vs. Chiefs Betting Odds – First Half

  • San Francisco 49ers Moneyline: -125
  • Kansas City Chiefs Moneyline: +105
  • First Half Spread: San Francisco 49ers -0.5 (-105)
  • First Half Total: 23.5 Points (Under: -120)

49ers vs. Chiefs Betting Prediction – Same Game Parlay

  • 49ers First Half Team Total Under 13.5
  • Chiefs First Half Team Total Under 13.5

If you combined these two markets into a same game parlay, the odds would be +130. Meaning if you bet $100 and both legs hit, the payout would be $230.

There’s something fishy going on with the first half total in Super Bowl LVIII.

As referenced in the odds, over 22.5 points is juiced to -130, suggesting points will be scored at will.

That would certainly follow the individual team trends – these sides are a combined 25-14 to the over in the first half this season (Kansas City 12-8, San Francisco 13-6).

But if you dive deeper into the correlative markets, there’s an argument to be made that points will come at a premium.

For the 49ers’ first half team total, under 10.5 is -115, while under 14.5 is -250.

For the Chiefs’ first half team total, under 10.5 is -140, while under 14.5 is -350.

Rather than taking the first-half total under at +100, I’ll buy a point on each team total at 14.5 and assume neither team gets blown out early.

Although it’s slightly worrisome the 49ers surrendered 24 first-half points to Detroit in the NFC Championship, that’s generally the exception rather than the rule.

For the entire season, San Francisco surrendered 9.9 first half points per game.

Although the Chiefs managed 14.5 first half points per game on offense, their average dropped to 13.1 away from home.

At the same time, San Francisco’s early offensive struggles worry me.

They managed only 14 combined points against the Packers and Lions and now face a Chiefs defense that allowed only 10 first half points per game.

Add in both teams have extra time to prepare and I suspect this game could start slow. Accordingly, use this creative angle for a higher payout at +125 or better.

Super Bowl LVIII First Half Public Betting Report

Much like the full game betting trends, bettors are gravitating toward the Chiefs in the first half.

As of Friday morning (Feb. 2), Kansas City has received 76% of all bets and 84% of the total handle for their first half spread (+0.5).

The first half moneyline for Kansas City has proved even more popular. Currently, the Chiefs have received 81% of all bets and 87% of the total handle for their moneyline (+105).

Despite those lofty percentages, it can be inferred that respected money is backing the 49ers.

The first half moneyline opened -110 each way. However, the 49ers have climbed to -125 despite receiving only 13% of all dollars.

In terms of the total, bettors are expecting points early. The number is currently 22.5 points for the first half, and the over has received 71% of all bets and 70% of the handle.
