Packers vs Panthers opens Week 8 as both teams try to bounce back from Week 7 losses.
Beyond side, total and moneyline markets, bettors also have access to myriad player props. Below, I’ve outlined my best player prop predictions for the showcase based on NFL odds.
Packers vs Panthers Prediction: TNF Player Props
Christian Watson Over 71.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
Watson has stayed under this line in two straight after exploding for 143 yards against Chicago. Now, he gets a Panthers secondary decimated by injuries at cornerback.
Over 71.5 @ -115 Under 71.5 @ -115Watson required only six receptions apiece to clear 100 yards twice this season.
He used an 81-yard touchdown catch in Week 1 against the Vikings and two 40+ yard catches against Chicago to overtake 100.
Carolina struggles to create pressure this season. Entering Week 8, Carolina ranks 28th in adjusted sack percentage with only 11 sacks in six games.
It should give Jordan Love time to find targets down the field. Plus, Watson may benefit from a Matthew Golden absence – he missed practice on Tuesday – that frees up some targets.
This year, Golden leads all Packers with 69 targets through seven games. Watson comes second with 56 targets vs. 17.5 yards per reception (best).
Last week, Carolina performed well against the Bucs’ passing game. However, Emeka Egbuka missed the contest, which may have increased Tampa Bay’s rushing tendencies.
Mere weeks ago, the defense allowed over 400 yards passing to Jared Goff at home. Of Goff’s 412 yards, 272 went to Detroit receivers.
Green Bay offers a closer comparison to Detroit’s passing game than Tampa Bay’s, rendering it a potential buy-low, sell-high opportunity.
Chuba Hubbard Under 15.5 Rushing Attempts (+100)
Hubbard averages 16 attempts per game this season, but it’s inflated by a 28-attempt outing against a bad Eagles run defense.
Over 15.5 @ -135 Under 15.5 @ +100Now, he gets a Packers run defense that – outside a bad effort against Bijan Robinson – has performed well against the run.
Green Bay ranks 16th in rush defense DVOA at -8.8%. However, a 56.9% rating against the Falcons makes it look worse than initially advertised.
From a yardage perspective, the Packers performed poorly against Robinson, Bucky Irving and Jahmyr Gibbs. All three backs feature on teams ranked 10th or better in rush offense DVOA.
Where Green Bay has succeeded from an attempts standpoint is in victories or positive game states. Javonte Williams, D’Andre Swift and Jordan Mason all stayed under this line.
Cumulatively, Green Bay averages 17.9 attempts allowed per game. However, it’s driven by 22.5 against Gibbs, Robinson, Irving and Breece Hall. The former duo each notched 29.
More concerning for Hubbard are the cluster injuries along the Panthers offensive line. Carolina placed Taylor Moton on IR after an injury on Sunday, and Damien Lewis is questionable.
In a presumed negative game state, I predict Hubbard stays under this line for a second straight game.
