Who is the Indianapolis Colts’ Offensive Coordinator?

Now in his sixth season with the Colts, Jim Bob Cooter serves as the offensive coordinator

Cooter began his NFL coaching career with Indianapolis. From 2009-11, he worked as an offensive assistant with the Colts. 

Cooter returned to Indy in 2023 to serve as the offensive coordinator. In the last two seasons, the Colts ranked 13th and 20th in offensive DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com.

In between his Indianapolis stops, Cooter worked for five different NFL teams. 

This marks his second stint as an offensive coordinator. The 41-year-old spent 3.5 seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Lions from 2015-18. 

Prior to elevating to the Lions’ offensive coordinator, Cooter worked a season-and-a-half as Detroit’s quarterbacks coach. 

Cooter added stops with the Chiefs, Broncos, Jets, Eagles and Jaguars. Here’s a breakdown of his roles:

  • Kansas City Chiefs: Quality Control Coordinator, 2012
  • Denver Broncos: Offensive Assistant, 2013
  • New York Jets: Running Backs Coach, 2019-20
  • Philadelphia Eagles: Consultant, 2021
  • Jacksonville Jaguars: Pass Game Coordinator, 2022

To round out his coaching experience, Cooter possesses two years of graduate assistant experience at the University of Tennessee.
