And then there were two. 

After months of playoff action, we have our final two teams — the Golden Knights and Hurricanes — in contention for the Stanley Cup. With puck drop scheduled for Tuesday night, now’s a good time to take a look at the odds for which player will win the Conn Smythe Trophy. 

PWHA voters will use a player’s entire playoff resume to decide who goes home with the award, but the final cases will be made in the Cup Finals. Last year’s win from Florida’s Sam Bennett proved that pretty much anyone on a team’s roster can win the Conn Smythe. 

Here’s a look at the odds for the 2025-26 Conn Smythe Trophy as of June 8.

Mitch Marner, Golden Knights (-220)

Marner’s first year in Vegas couldn’t have gone any better. Can he now add a Conn Smythe Trophy win to an already great season? 

The Golden Knights won last summer’s offseason when they acquired Marner’s services via a sign-and-trade with the Maple Leafs. 11 months later, the team is back in the Stanley Cup Finals — their third Finals appearance in the franchise’s nine seasons of existence — and Marner is playing a huge role. 

Marner has 10 goals and a league-leading 28 overall points through 18 games played during this playoff run. 

Prior to Saturday’s wild Game 3, Marner hadn’t lit the lamp since the end of the Anaheim series. He sure changed that, recording a hat trick in Vegas’ 5-4 double-overtime win. Marner also had an assist early in the game, meaning that all of the team’s regulation goals were either scored by Marner or the result of his assists. 

Marner’s hat trick was the quickest in the history of the Stanley Cup Finals, taking him only six minutes and 10 seconds to record three goals. 

It’s Marner’s second hat trick of these playoffs. His first came in Game 3 against the Ducks.

Marner’s first postseason in Vegas has been the longest and most productive of his career. In his previous nine seasons in Toronto, Marner had never advanced past the second round and had never had more than 14 points. 

Last season, Marner played in 13 games in the Maple Leafs’ playoff run, contributing two goals and a then-career-high 11 assists. Marner’s best point total in the playoff run before this was in 2023, when he finished the season with 14 points in 11 games played. 

Marner had a somewhat earned reputation as a poor playoff performer during his stint in Toronto. He has completely shattered that rep in these playoffs, and if the Knights can hold on to their two-games-to-one lead, he’ll certainly be winning Conn Smythe honors.
