When betting on an NHL puck line, +1.5 means that the underdog team must either win the game outright or lose the game by one goal or less in order for the bet to be successful.

With a puck line, also called “against the spread,” the spread is almost always 1.5 goals. The favorite team will be set at -1.5, which means they must win the game by two or more goals to “cover” the puck line. The underdog team covers the puck line by either winning outright or losing by one goal or less.

If the team you bet on covers the puck line, the bet is successful.
