That marks one of two successes at the PGA for McIlroy. In 2014, he earned a one-shot win at Valhalla, two years removed from an eight-shot victory at Kiawah Island.
McIlroy’s first major title saw similar dominance. His 2011 U.S. Open win at Congressional came by an eight-shot margin over Jason Day.
For his British Open success, McIlroy won in 2014, a month before his PGA Championship success. That win at Royal Liverpool came by two shots over Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia.
