Based on Tottenham’s success against Brentford last season and the latter’s penalty kick reliance, my Brentford vs Tottenham prediction is Tottenham Draw, No Bet (+100).

The prediction assumes defender Micky van de Ven starts for Tottenham. Without him, confidence in Tottenham diminishes significantly.

For all of Tottenham’s issues last season, they performed well against Brentford. Thomas Frank managed both matches, winning 2-0 at home and drawing 0-0 on the road.

Underlying metrics favored Tottenham in both matches. The former fixture saw Tottenham win 2.4-0.6 on expected goals with a 2.9-0.5 post-shot xG advantage, per Understat.

At Brentford, Tottenham struggled to create similar scoring chances. Still, the defense held up as the Bees generated only 0.9 expected goals and 0.3 post-shot xG.

Tottenham edged Brentford on post-shot xG, creating 0.9 to Brentford’s 0.3. Expected goals essentially proved a wash with both teams creating 0.9.

Now under Roberto de Zerbi, Tottenham revamped its squad during the Summer transfer window. Jan Paul van Hecke arrives to (presumably) replace Cristian Romero.

Tottenham also added midfielders Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes. They’ll help shore up a defense that already ranked sixth in the 2025 expected goals against table.

Even though they’re facing a Brentford attack that ranked seventh in expected goals, it’s a bit misleading. Keith Andrews’ side received 10 penalties last year, the highest in the league.
