Ohio State begins its stretch run without Julian Sayin, who’s expected (but not yet totally confirmed) to have a season-ending shoulder injury.

A road trip to Southern California is a tough first challenge for freshman quarterback Luke Fahey.

Ohio State vs USC: Preview & Notes

If this game turns into a quarterback battle between Fahey and Jayden Maiava, there won’t be any need to watch. The Trojans will run away with it, sending Ohio State back to Columbus with a second loss.

So for Ohio State, this game will be about winning the line of scrimmage and dropping its linebackers into coverage to flood the passing lanes.

USC can sometimes be too one-dimensional in its approach to the passing offense, so Ohio State can use that against the Trojans – if the Buckeyes can crowd the box with only five or six guys. A defensive struggle will favor the visitors.
