Oregon vs. Indiana: Prediction, Odds, Betting Preview

  • Oregon vs. Indiana kicks off Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
  • The winner of this game is likely to play for the Big Ten championship.

All eyes are on Eugene this week, as Oregon prepares to host what may be its biggest game of the year. With Penn State losing to UCLA last week and dropping to 0-2 in Big Ten play, thereโ€™s a good chance Indiana presents Oregonโ€™s toughest test of the regular season.

College GameDay will be in attendance for this Week 7 game with major Big Ten championship implications. The early spread market has pushed Oregon football odds to the far side of -7.ย

Hereโ€™s my perspective on the game.ย

Oregon vs. Indiana Odds

  • Point Spread: Oregon -7.5
  • Moneyline: Oregon -300ย  |ย  Indiana +240
  • Over/Under: 55.5

Oregon vs. Indiana Preview

I have closely watched Curt Cignetti for many years, thanks to my past life as a CAA football beat writer and journalist. (As some readers know, I am also a James Madison alumnus.) Iโ€™ve probably seen more Cignetti games over the past 10 years than anyone not directly related to the man.

Many moons ago, Cignetti got his start as a recruiting coordinator for Alabama in the early Nick Saban years. Ever since then, one of Cignettiโ€™s core strengths has been his ability to identify, recruit, and develop talent. He does this with overlooked high school players, but he also does an exceptional job finding random guys at programs youโ€™ve never heard of and pulling them up to contribute at a higher level.

The on-field product is hard to argue with. The guy wins basically everywhere he goes.ย

But on the rare occasion where Cignetti goes against an elite program with superior talent or coaching, he generally loses. Last yearโ€™s games against Ohio and Notre Dame would be the latest examples of this. The Hoosiers lost both by double digits.ย

Thereโ€™s no shame in that, since most teams lose when they play elite programs. On balance, I have a ton of respect for what heโ€™s done at a series of nontraditional winners, including Indiana and Elon.ย

But if youโ€™re asking me whether I like Indiana or Oregon, I think Iโ€™ll take the team that won the Big Ten last year and currently has five players projected as first or second-round draft picks next spring.

Oregon vs. Indiana Prediction

I am predicting an Oregon win and cover on Saturday.ย

Oregon hasnโ€™t lost a home game since 2022, and I donโ€™t think the streak breaks here.

Prediction: Oregon -7.5
