The St. Louis Cardinals have a win total of 69.5 entering the 2026 season, based on the latest MLB win totals market at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

Cardinals Win Total Prediction 2026

  • Lean over 69.5 wins

Per the current MLB betting lines, I lean toward the over on the Cardinals’ win total (69.5) for the 2026 season.

Typically, it’s better to take the over on these low win totals, as there are more paths to clearing the mark than finishing under it. Over the past two years, there have been seven teams with a preseason win total below 70. Five of them finished over the mark.

Unless you think the Cardinals are this year’s version of the 2025 Colorado Rockies or 2024 Chicago White Sox, it’s probably best to take the over on this mark. It also helps that the Cardinals haven’t won fewer than 70 games in a full season since 1978.

But make no mistake, the Cardinals are in complete rebuild mode right now. After missing the playoffs in three straight years, they traded away Brendan Donovan, Wilson Contreras, Nolan Arenado, and Sonny Gray.

The Cardinals didn’t get much immediate production from the return of these deals, signaling a proper teardown. They also opened the door for their younger players to get more opportunities.

Outfielder Victor Scott II should get plenty of playing time, which is why I like his value in the stolen base leader odds market. Infielder JJ Wetherholt, the team’s top prospect, might break camp with the big-league club.

The pitching staff doesn’t have as much potential. St. Louis will be counting on Matthew Liberatore and Dustin May at the top of the rotation.

It’s easy to see why the Cardinals have their lowest full-season win total since at least 1990, which is as far back as the Sports Odds History database goes. But don’t be surprised if St. Louis finds a way to win 70-plus games this season.
