Oakland Athletics right-hander Ross Stripling has cleared 3.5 whiffs in each of his last three outings and four of his five starts this season. He has 22 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings.
THE BAT X projects 4.06 strikeouts for Stripling against the Orioles. That means a fair price on this over should be closer to -200, and is playable at anything -150 or better ahead of Friday’s series opener.
Baltimore ranks 22nd in the league with a strikeout rate of 20.9%, but that rate has jumped to 22.2% (15th in MLB) since rookie Jackson Holliday was called up to the big leagues.
Holliday has 18 strikeouts through his first 36 plate appearances, recording multiple whiffs in three of his last five games. Stripling could get halfway to this over in just two meetings against Holliday alone.
