The best players tend to come through when their team needs them.
Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber led the way with an MLB-best 132 runs batted in during the 2025 season.
Schwarber’s season as MLB’s RBI king was a bit of a surprise, unless you checked out this page last spring. I suggested backing Schwarber at his +5000 odds in the preseason.
While there is no way to follow that up, here’s a look at the latest MLB betting lines and predictions for the 2026 RBI leader market:

Who Will Lead MLB in RBIs in 2026?
Based on the latest MLB odds, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is the favorite to lead the majors in RBIs this season. His +450 odds imply a 18.18% probability.
For context, Judge was also the preseason favorite in this market last year at +700. He ultimately finished fifth in the majors with 114 RBIs in 2025.
Judge has been MLB’s leader in RBIs twice in the past four years, accomplishing the feat in 2024 and 2022. He finished in a tie for first with Pete Alonso in 2022 and led by 14 RBIs in 2024.
Given his resume, it’s not a surprise to see Judge as a betting favorite. However, it’s notable that Judge’s odds this year mark his shortest preseason price in the RBI leader market:
- 2026: +400
- 2025: +700
- 2024: +850
- 2023: +700
- 2022: +1600
MLB RBI Leader Predictions for 2026
- Nick Kurtz, Athletics: +4000 (Pick made Jan. 29)
Allow me to share some groundbreaking news: Judge is projected to lead the majors in RBIs by every projection system at FanGraphs.
ATC, which is the weighted composite of a number of projection systems at FanGraphs, has Judge leading the way with 112 RBIs this year. Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani comes in second with 109.
I’d be surprised if the league leader in RBIs has a total that low, but it’s important to remember that projections are often forecasting median outcomes.
Projections can sometimes miss ceiling scenarios due to role changes or players taking the next step. That’s how someone like Schwarber can come through in this market as a 50/1 long shot.
With that in mind, I’ve circled Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz (+4000) as my favorite prediction in this market.
Kurtz is coming off an incredible Rookie of the Year campaign, generating 5.4 bWAR with 36 home runs, 86 RBIs, and 90 runs in 117 games. He had at least 10 games in six different spots in the lineup last year, but I’m guessing the Athletics would like him near the middle of the order this summer.
Kurtz drove in 23 runs in 130 plate appearances from the No. 3 spot last year. If he can maintain that clip, I could see him emerging as one of the top challengers in this stat leader market.
ATC currently projects Kurtz for 95 RBIs in 143 games (10th in MLB), but his price tag in this market is behind 20 players. For comparison, Kurtz has the fifth-best value in the home run leader odds market.
I see this price tag moving before opening day, especially if the Athletics reveal any information about Kurtz’s position in the lineup.
