Josh Allen Contract: Salary, Extension, Cap Hit With Bills

Josh Allen is an annual MVP candidate who keeps the Buffalo Bills’ odds atop the AFC East market. He’s also incredibly durable for a mobile quarterback who runs the ball as much as he does.

That’s a major reason why Allen was locked up with another huge contract extension last year worth more than a quarter-billion dollars.

In March 2025, Josh Allen signed a six-year, $330 million contract extension that runs through the 2030 season. 

Over the life of his extension, Allen’s average annual salary is $55 million.

Josh Allen Guaranteed Money

Josh Allen’s new contract extension included a total of $147 million in guaranteed money when it was signed. 

Money continues to lock for Allen as the contract progresses, including another $53.5 million of 2028 compensation at the beginning of the 2027 NFL calendar schedule.

Josh Allen will earn $55 million from his NFL contract in 2026.

A majority of that money is a $38 million option bonus that became guaranteed in March. He received an additional $15.2 million in March after agreeing to convert salary into cash signing bonus, saving the franchise $12.1 million in cap space.

Allen is also due $500,000 as a workout bonus, and he’ll still collect $1.3 million base compensation – the NFL veteran minimum salary as guaranteed by the current CBA.

Josh Allen’s cap hit for 2026 is $44,228,000, or roughly 14.7% of Buffalo’s cap sheet.
