Faced with a difficult schedule in 2023, Los Angeles earned only five wins. With Justin Herbert out for the final four games, the Chargers finished 0-4. 

Entering 2024, loads of turnover occurred in Los Angeles. Both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams exited on offense with Los Angeles expected to focus more on the run in 2024.

If Harbaugh can join and rapidly improve this defense – no better than 19th in EPA/play the last two years – there’s no reason Los Angeles can’t win nine games. 

Last year, the Chargers faced the sixth-hardest schedule after finishing second in the 2022 AFC West rankings. 

This year, they get what’s projected to be the second-easiest schedule based on opponent win totals after finishing last in 2024. 

Across the entire season, the Chargers play only four games against teams with a win total of 10 games or higher, three of which are at home. 

Plus, Los Angeles’ underlying results from 2023 rate them a positive regression candidate in 2024. 

The Chargers played seven games last season that were decided by three or fewer points. 

They lost every single one.
