Seahawks vs Chiefs Odds: Spread, Moneyline & Total
Chiefs vs Seahawks Prediction
Based on Kansas City’s misleading defensive record and the overwhelming support for Kansas City, my Seahawks vs Chiefs prediction is the Seahawks Moneyline (-130).
Seattle has dropped two straight due to their inability to avoid turnovers. At 3-3, Seattle’s losses this year have come by a combined eight points.
It helps paint the picture of a team that’s better than their record would indicate. Per FTN Fantasy, Seattle is a three-win team with a DVOA indicative of a four-win outfit.
On Sunday, the defending Super Bowl champions get a Chiefs team that’s a misleading 5-0. Kansas City escaped with two wins this season by six total points against Indy and Las Vegas.
The Raiders game in particular concerns me from a Chiefs standpoint. Las Vegas led 19-17 midway through the fourth quarter with two untimely turnovers dooming the Raiders.
Klint Kubiak’s team still covered as a 4.5-point home dog. But the Chiefs won in spite of horrific defensive play against what I consider an average-at-best offense.
Outside the division, Steve Spagnuolo’s defense has allowed teams to move the ball through the air. From Weeks 2- 4, the Chiefs defense averaged a 31.8% pass defense DVOA rating.
More concerning? It came against the Colts, Dolphins and Raiders. I’d hardly describe those offenses as elite passing attacks.
So far this season, the Chiefs defense has faced the easiest set of opposing offenses. Seattle sits 24th in offensive DVOA, but we’ve at least seen them play good competition.
Seattle’s offensive rating takes a hit from constant turnovers. Excluding plays with turnovers, Brian Fleury’s offense still ranks as an average passing attack.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks defense still sits second in defensive DVOA. It’s the first time all year Kansas City will face a top-five unit in that metric.
It has not stopped bettors from rushing to bet the Chiefs. As of Monday afternoon, 77% of bets are backing the Chiefs to cover +2, with 76% of moneyline bets supporting the dog.
Given those factors, I predict the Seahawks take advantage of the extra rest and hand the Chiefs their first loss.
