Amongst active golfers with at least three Open Championship starts, Scottie Scheffler owns the best average finish.
Including his win in 2025, Scheffler averaged a 12th-place finish in five Open Championship starts. It’s one reason Scheffler paces the current British Open odds.
Scheffler carries a narrow advantage over compatriot Xander Schauffele, the 2024 Open winner. Schauffele has played in Open Championships and averaged a 16.1 finish with six top-20s.
Rounding out the top three is another Open winner: Jordan Spieth.
Spieth, a Royal Birkdale previous winner, averaged a 16.2 finish over 10 starts. Across all 10, he finished 30th or better nine times.
Here’s a look at the active golfers with the best average British Open finish (min. 3 starts).
