  • The 2024 British Open was July 18-21 from Royal Troon.
  • The purse for this year was $17 million, with a $3.1 million winner's share.
  • Xander Schauffele won his second major.

The fourth and final golf major of the year was the British Open, July 18-21 from Royal Troon.

There were plenty of storylines, but perhaps none bigger than Rory McIlroy looking to win his first major since 2014, coming off a disappointing finish at last month’s U.S. Open.

But in the end, Xander Schauffele was the story, winning his second major of the season and second of his career. He finished at 9-under, which gave him a two-shot victory.

Schauffele shot a 6-under 65 on Sunday.

The tournament had a $17 million purse.

How Much Does the Winner of the British Open Make?

Xander Schauffele’s winner’s share for the 2024 British Open was $3.1 million. This was his second career major and second of the season.
