  • The purse for The CJ Cup in 2022 was $10.5 million.
  • Rory McIlroy earned a winner's share of $1,890,000.

The PGA Tour shifted from Japan back to the United States for The CJ Cup at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

Rory McIlroy, who had golf odds to win of +700 as the defending champion, was able to successfully defend his title.

McIlroy finished the tournament at 17-under, which was good for a one-shot advantage over Kurt Kitayama. McIlroy birdied holes Nos. 14-16 on Sunday to pull away from the field. It was his 23rd career PGA Tour win.

The win moved him to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

He’s already the second player of the year to successfully defend (Max Homa at Fortinet Championship).

The CJ Cup has always drawn a terrific field thanks to a $10.5 million purse that ranks second on the fall schedule.
