UTSA vs. South Florida: Odds & Prediction for Thursday Night

Odds Boost This Weekend

Thursday night’s game between UTSA and South Florida carries major conference importance, plus under-the-radar College Football Playoff implications for the G6 bid.

As my G6 playoff tracker indicates, the top American conference teams have fallen behind other 2026 teams: Boise State, JMU, and North Dakota State.

But the season is long, and all three of these teams could lose a game or two before you know it. The winner of UTSA and South Florida could end up in a decent playoff position when the wheel of G6 losses spins back around in the coming weeks.

BetMGM has NCAA football odds available for all the Week 6 college football action.

UTSA vs. South Florida: Prediction and Preview

Entering Week 6, USF and UTSA simply have not faced equivalent tests up to this point in the season.

UTSA has played to games against Pac-12 opponents, winning both. That includes a road win at Texas State. The Roadrunners also played at Texas in Week 3, losing 30-6 but covering the +29.5 point spread.

South Florida has played tight, one-score games against Army and Bowling Green. The Bulls lost to Temple at home last week.

This road trip to UTSA is, by far, the toughest game to date for USF, which explains why the Bulls are catching seven and the hook.

On the field, UTSA wants to run the ball. The Roadrunners rank 28th in EPA/rush and 18th in success rate on run plays. But the strength of USF’s team is arguably its defensive front, which ranks 20th in EPA/rush allowed.

This game will likely hinge on who wins the line of scrimmage when UTSA has the ball.

UTSA vs. South Florida Prediction

I am predicting a win and cover for UTSA.

South Florida might be 4-1, but the Bulls have mostly scraped by against lesser opponents. This is an inexperienced coaching staff that’s now playing its first game against a quality opponent, and I think it could get out of hand.

This won’t make my best bets column this week, but I like UTSA to keep pace in the American.

Lean: UTSA -7.5
