NFL Awards & Predictions for NFL Honors

Amongst the myriad NFL odds available at the BetMGM online sportsbook are NFL Awards markets. 

Bettors can currently find markets available for MVP, offensive and defensive rookie of the year, odds and defensive player of the year and coach of the year. 

Winners are announced each February at the NFL Honors. Traditionally, the ceremony occurs in the lead-up to the Super Bowl. 

Below, I’ll outline my predictions for these markets. Prices are reflective at the time of writing and are subject to movement. 

NFL Awards Predictions for 2026 NFL Honors

NFL MVP Prediction: Brock Purdy (+2800)

A bit of calculus exists behind this wager. 

I’m very bullish on the San Francisco 49ers in 2025. They play the league’s easiest schedule off a season decimated by injuries. 

Still, the 49ers’ offense excelled last year. Despite countless injuries, San Francisco ranked ninth in offensive DVOA against the ninth-hardest set of defenses, per ftnfantasy.com. 

That marks four years in a row the 49ers ranked ninth or better in offensive DVOA. 

If the 49ers take advantage of an easy schedule and continue to dominate offensively, I like Purdy’s chances of claiming his first MVP award. 

Each of the last six MVP winners led their team to at least 12 wins. All of the previous five won at least 13 games. 

Lookahead lines project the 49ers to be a market favorite in 15 games this season. 

If San Francisco takes advantage of that schedule, they could easily return to one of the top two seeds in the NFC. 

Pair that with the recent offensive success, and I like the price on Purdy, who contended for this award two years ago.

NFL MVP Prediction: Jordan Love (+2500)

Much like the 49ers, Green Bay carries a high ceiling this season if all goes well. 

Love led an offense that ranked fourth in offensive DVOA last season, up from sixth in his “rookie” season (2023), according to ftnfantasy.com. 

Last season, Green Bay qualified as the only team fourth or better in offensive DVOA with 11 or fewer wins.

Last season’s performances also suggest positive regression could arrive in Wisconsin. 

Green Bay accumulated 11 wins last year, off 12.7 expected, the third-highest expected output in the league. That’s the largest underperformance amongst teams 10th or higher in xWins. 

If my assumptions are right about Green Bay, a top-2 seed in the NFC with 12-13 wins isn’t unlikely. 

As for Love, he ranked eighth amongst all quarterbacks in adjusted EPA per play over the last two seasons. Last season, he ranked seventh, including fifth from Week 12 onward. 

Based on those factors, give me Love at +2500 to claim his first NFL MVP. 

NFL Coach of the Year Prediction: Liam Coen (+1400)

As time progresses, I begin to carry more faith in the Jaguars this season. 

Will the defense be a problem? Almost certainly. Jacksonville finished 31st in defensive DVOA last season against the easiest schedule of offenses, per ftnfantasy.com. 

But I simultaneously love what the offense accomplished. Last season, Jacksonville finished 17th in offensive DVOA against the hardest schedule of defenses. 

Drafting Travis Hunter immediately fills the void left by Christian Kirk. It also gives Brian Thomas Jr. a complement for Coen, who transformed Tampa Bay’s offense last season. 

In 2023, Tampa Bay ranked 20th in offensive DVOA and 28th in rush offense DVOA. Last season, Coen took the offense to seventh and eighth in those respective metrics. 

If Jacksonville takes a similar leap, it lifts the ceiling on a team that ran very unlucky last season. 

In Doug Pederson’s final year, Jacksonville finished two wins under expected. Driving that bad luck – a 1-4 record in field-goal games and a 3-10 record in touchdown games. 

This season, Jacksonville plays the league’s sixth-easiest schedule by opponent win totals. AFC South favorites Houston play the league’s eight-hardest schedule. 

That creates a real chance Jacksonville wins the AFC South and makes the playoffs. If that happens, Coen should find himself in the conversation for coach of the year.

NFL Coach of the Year Prediction: Brian Callahan (+3000)

Based on Tennessee’s easy schedule and their underlying defensive metrics from last season, I predict Brian Callahan (+3000) wins Coach of the Year. 

I’m beginning to see a path for the Titans to surpass expectations in 2025. 

They face the easiest schedule in the league as a positive regression candidate with a sneaky good defense from 2025. 

Tennessee plays only four games against playoff teams next year, three of which come at home. Last year, they finished 3-14 but went 2-5 in games decided by a touchdown or less. 

Four of those losses came within the division while playing the hardest schedule in the division and 13th-hardest in the league, per ftnfantasy.com. 

What plagued the Titans last year was poor special teams play. Hidden in their season, however, is the fact that they ranked 17th in defensive DVOA and eighth in opponent yards per play. 

If Cam Ward shines in front of a strong defense – they play only three games against teams 10th or better in offensive DVOA from 2024 – Callahan could garner buzz for this award. 

Given the schedule, a seven-win improvement for the Titans isn’t out of the question. Accordingly, this price is worth a bet to me.

NFL DPOY Prediction: Josh Sweat (+12500)

Let me start with this: If I’m right about the Cowboys and Dallas makes the postseason, this award is Micah Parsons’ to lose. 

But let’s entertain the idea that Dallas doesn’t make the postseason. Since 2010, only two times has a player won DPOY with his team missing the postseason. 

That brings me to Arizona, which I think has a strong chance to reach the postseason. 

What is most impressive about Jonathan Gannon’s tenure is the rapid improvement of the defense. In 2023, Arizona finished 32nd in defensive DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com. 

Last season, Gannon’s defense jumped to 14th while playing the third-hardest set of offenses. 

This season, bettors should expect another leap. Based on 2024 offensive DVOA ratings, the Cardinals go from the third-hardest set of offenses to the 17th-hardest. 

Sweat immediately becomes the best pass rusher on the Cardinals after signing a lucrative deal this offseason. 

The 2018 fourth-round pick notched double-digit sacks in two of his previous three seasons. In 2022, he spiked to 13 regular-season sacks and 15 total for the year. 

If the Cardinals offense retains its quality – 11th in offensive DVOA last season – it creates a lot of opportunities for the pass rushers. 

As a result, Sweat is worth a flier to win defensive player of the year in 2025. 

NFL OPOY Prediction: Bijan Robinson (+1200)

Robinson took a big step forward in 2024. Bettors should expect an even bigger step forward this season. 

From a rushing standpoint, I like Atlanta’s profile in 2025. Although Drew Dahlman left, incoming center Ryan Neuzil played meaningful time last year and should slot in rather easily. 

In Zac Robinson’s first year as Falcons offensive coordinator, he took Atlanta from 22nd in rush offense DVOA to fifth, per ftnfantasy.com. As a unit, the Falcons jumped from 24th to 14th. 

Robinson leaped from 976 yards on 4.6 yards per attempt to 1,456 yards on 4.8 yards per attempt. 

In a Michael Penix-led offense, I expect an even heavier workload for Robinson. 

In an admittedly small sample, Robinson averaged 22.3 rushing attempts in three Penix starts. With Cousins, it drops to 16.9 rushing attempts per game. 

Even more encouraging about Robinson: Atlanta’s affinity for getting him the ball in the red zone. 

The Texas alum amassed 60 rushing attempts and seven red zone targets. The next closest player? Drake London at 26 targets (no rushes). 

As a result, I like backing Robinson to earn this year’s offensive player of the year award.
