Jared Goff has one of the weirdest careers of any quarterback in the NFL right now. He’s been both a scrappy underdog and a former No. 1 pick.
He’s often talked about as though he’s damaged goods or limited, yet he’s played in a Super Bowl and came very close to getting back at the end of the 2023 season.
Ahead of the 2026 season, Goff restructured his deal to create $32 million in extra cap room for Detroit. The Lions odds are near the top of the NFC table, but they likely needed that spending flexibility to upgrade the roster and get back to competing at the top of the conference.
Jared Goff Contract
On May 13, 2024, Jared Goff signed a four-year contract extension with the Lions worth $212 million. The deal will run through the 2028 NFL season and includes a full no-trade clause.
Over the life of his contract, Goff’s average annual salary is $53 million.
Jared Goff Salary
Jared Goff will make $55 million from his NFL contract in 2026.
That breaks down into $15 million in base salary – AKA weekly game checks – and $40 million in restructured cash. Goff and the Lions agreed to convert $40 million of 2026 salary into signing bonus cash.
Jared Goff Guaranteed Money
Jared Goff’s 2024 contract extension contained $113.6 million in guaranteed money at the time it was signed.
Since then, an additional $53 million has become guaranteed, including $18 million of his 2027 salary. That brings his current guaranteed total up to $166.6 million.
Jared Goff Cap Hit
Jared Goff’s 2026 cap hit is $37.6 million after his contract restructure.
