Jared Goff Contract Extension: Salary, Guaranteed Money

Jared Goff has one of the weirdest careers of any quarterback in the NFL right now. He’s a scrappy underdog who was also a former No. 1 pick. 

He’s constantly talked about as though he’s damaged goods, yet he’s played in a Super Bowl and came very close to getting back at the end of the 2023 season.

For his good work in Detroit, the 29-year-old quarterback of the Lions was rewarded with a hefty new contract worth more than $200 million.

On May 13, 2024, Jared Goff signed a four-year contract extension with the Lions worth $212 million. The deal will run through the 2028 NFL season.

Previously, Goff had signed a four-year contract extension in 2019 while he was a member of the Rams. 

At the time, Goff was still playing on the fourth year of his rookie contract. And just five months before signing the extension, the Rams exercised their team option for a fifth year of control on Goff’s rights.

The fifth-year option, plus the four-year extension, meant Goff was inked through the 2024 NFL season – a fairly long time for a quarterback to be locked down, by modern standards.

Jared Goff will draw $22,300,064 as his base salary for the 2024 NFL season.

Goff collected an additional $5 million as a roster bonus for remaining with the Lions on March 14. 

Over the life of his new four-year extension, Goff’s average annual salary will be $53 million.
