Jared Goff Contract: Salary With Lions

Jared Goff has one of the weirdest careers of any quarterback in the NFL right now. He’s a scrappy underdog who was a former No. 1 pick. 

He’s constantly talked about as though he’s damaged goods, yet he’s played in a Super Bowl and came very close to getting back at the end of the 2023 season.

He’s also been under contract for what seems like forever. But after the 2024 season, Goff will finally be a free agent – assuming Detroit doesn’t sign him to an extension between now and then.

Jared Goff Contract

On Sept. 3, 2019, Jared Goff signed a four-year contract extension worth $134 million while he was a member of the Rams. Los Angeles was fresh off a Super Bowl appearance, and everything seemed great between the two parties.

At the time, Goff was still playing on the fourth year of his rookie contract. And just five months before signing the extension, the Rams exercised their team option for a fifth year of control on Goff’s rights.

The fifth-year option, plus the four-year extension, meant Goff was inked through the 2024 NFL season – a fairly long time for a quarterback to be locked down, by modern standards. 

By the end of the following season, Rams coach Sean McVay appeared to have soured on Goff. The Lions traded the Matthew Stafford contract for the rights to Goff, who they have controlled ever since. 

Jared Goff Salary

Jared Goff will draw $21,650,064 as his base salary for the 2024 NFL season. He drew a similar $20,975,000 base salary in 2023. 

Additionally, Goff’s contract calls for a 2024 roster bonus. If he’s still with the Lions on March 14, he will collect an additional $5 million. 

Over the life of this four-year extension, Goff’s average annual salary has been $33.5 million.
