Since the 1966 NFL merger, only four quarterbacks have won both an NCAA national championship and a Super Bowl: Joe Namath, Ken Stabler, Joe Montana, and Jalen Hurts.

Hurts became the most recent player to join the list after winning Super Bowl LIX in February 2025. Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP after setting a new record for rushing yards by a quarterback.

Hurts helped Alabama win the 2017 national championship before transferring to Oklahoma for the 2019 season.

Montana, the greatest quarterback of the 1980s, won four Super Bowls with the 49ers. He had previously helped Notre Dame win the 1977 national championship after the Irish whipped No. 1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

Ken Stabler, who also went to Alabama, was the quarterback for the Raiders when they won Super Bowl XI at the end of the 1976 season.

Namath famously won Super Bowl III with the Jets. And yes โ€“ he, too, went to Alabama.ย
