Amongst the NFL odds markets growing in popularity, one subset is the touchdown scorer markets.
Within this prop market, bettors can find wagers for a game’s first, last, or anytime touchdown scorer.
The first TD scorer asks bettors to identify which player will find the endzone first, while the last TD scorer involves who will score the final touchdown of the game.
Within these markets, players from both teams are available.
As for anytime touchdown markets, bettors win their wager if a player finds the endzone at any point in the game.
With the rules established, let’s dive into my best anytime touchdown bets for Week 3 of the NFL season.
NFL Anytime Touchdown Betting Prediction No. 1
Travis Etienne Anytime TD (-105) vs. Houston Texans
Etienne failed to find the endzone in Week 2 against the Chiefs. However, he should have more success against the Texans.
Even though Houston prioritized defense by hiring DeMeco Ryans as their head coach, early returns are less than encouraging. Through two games, the Texans rank 25th in defensive DVOA, including 32nd in rush defense DVOA.
That won’t inform success against Etienne, who dominated Houston in their last head-to-head meeting. In Week 17 last season, the Clemson product rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown.
For that contest, his PFF grade of 72.5 rated out his fifth-best of the 2022 regular season.
Add in the Texans have surrendered a rushing touchdown to opposing starting running backs in both contests this season, and -105 feels a very palatable price.
NFL Anytime Touchdown Betting Prediction No. 2
Keenan Allen Anytime TD (+125) vs. Minnesota Vikings
It’s time to find out if the Vikings pass defense is as good as the first two weeks suggest.
Entering their meeting with the Chargers, the Vikings sit 11th in pass defense DVOA. However, they’ve faced two teams – Tampa Bay and Philadelphia – that prefer to run the ball.
Without Austin Ekeler, the Chargers likely will lean on a pass-heavy gameplan from Justin Herbert and company, especially considering Minnesota finished 27th in pass defense DVOA last season.
Allen scored two touchdowns last week against the Titans – a defense with similar metrics to the Vikings last season – and has six touchdowns over his last 10 regular-season games.
Assuming a high volume of targets, Allen is a good bet to find the endzone at +110 or better in a game oddsmakers assume will feature loads of points.
