As the NFL trade deadline approaches, one of the key questions is whether the Jaguars trade receiver Brian Thomas Jr.

Thomas Jr. has seen a diminished role that coincided with Parker Washington’s ascent in Liam Coen’s offense. He took another hit last year after the Jaguars traded for Jakobi Meyers.

Jacksonville has Thomas playing on a rookie contract and is more of a luxury than a liability. Still, the team could move him in an effort to add draft capital.

Here are two potential destinations for Thomas Jr. in the event he moves.

NFL Trade Deadline: Brian Thomas Jr. Potential Destinations

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams offense can best be described as a top-heavy unit. The team has minimal depth when it operates at full health, which is no longer the case.

Davante Adams sustained an injury that will sideline him for nine more weeks maximum. It leaves Konata Mumpfield as the second option behind WR1 Puka Nacua.

A receiver reinforcement could help the Rams as they chase a championship. Entering Week 8, the Rams are 3-4 and trail the 49ers and Seahawks in the NFC West.

Winning the division appears unlikely at this point. However, improving the offense in Adams’ absence could stabilize a high-variance unit.

The Rams recorded as many offensive DVOA grades north of 30% as they have beneath 0%. Currently, the team ranks seventh in total offensive DVOA at 15%.

San Francisco 49ers

Thomas Jr. would slot nicely into an injury-plagued 49ers receiver room. Ricky Pearsall is finished for the season while Mike Evans missed a trip to Atlanta.

Additionally, it makes additional sense for the Niners, with Deebo Samuel and Christian Kirk scheduled to hit free agency in 2027.

Despite a Week 7 loss in Atlanta, San Francisco remains the current favorite in the Super Bowl odds. With the inside track to the NFC’s top seed, San Francisco could benefit from an addition.

We’ve already seen GM John Lynch add former Niner DeForest Buckner from the Colts. An offensive addition would help a team that has exclusively looked good against bad units.

San Francisco’s offensive DVOA entering a Week 8 bye sits at 28.2%. Excluding games against Arizona and Miami, the rating drops to 11.6%.
