Creighton has never sniffed a national championship – or even the Final Four – in program history. But if their futures odds in 2022-23 college basketball betting prove accurate, that could change this season.
The Bluejays have only one Elite Eight appearance in program history … in 1941 when the NCAA Tournament was eight total teams. And since the tourney expanded in 1985, they have just nine total wins and one Sweet 16 appearance.
National Championship Odds
The lack of championship pedigree doesn’t appear to be a factor in national championship betting. As of mid-June, Ryan Kalkbrenner and Creighton have the best national championship odds among Big East teams. At +2200, they’re far ahead of the next-closest conference foe, Villanova (+5000), and behind only nine other teams in the entire country.
“It’s always based off what you did last year,” 13th-year head coach Greg McDermott said of preseason rankings and high expectations. “We had a good finish to the season. We have to earn our keep here.”
Creighton is narrowly ahead of Michigan (+2500) in title odds and narrowly behind Arizona (+2000), and closer to the co-favorites, Kentucky and Gonzaga (+1000), than Villanova.
