Seven different college basketball programs have won back-to-back national championships: Oklahoma State, Kentucky, San Francisco, Cincinnati, UCLA, Duke, and Florida.
- Oklahoma State: 1945-56
- Kentucky: 1948-49
- San Francisco: 1955-56
- Cincinnati: 1961-62
- UCLA: 1964-65, 1967-1973
- Duke: 1991-92
- Florida: 2006-07
UCLA is the only program to accomplish the feat multiple times. The Bruins – who own the most national championships ever – won consecutive titles in 1964 and 1965 and again from 1967-73.
Several teams have nearly won the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years. Most recently, Kentucky won in 1996, lost the title game in 1997, and won in 1998.
Kansas is now attempting to become the first back-to-back national champion since Florida in 2006-07. They are the No. 1 seed in the West Region of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
