  • The Giantsโ€™ 2024 preseason win total is set at 6.5 wins at BetMGM.
  • New York has only cleared this number once since 2017.
  • Will an improved defense for the Giants allow them to clear their win total?

For the 2024 NFL season, the Giants win total sits at 6.5 wins at the BetMGM online sportsbook.ย

If history is the main indicator, the Giants will struggle to clear this number. Only once since 2017 has New York managed seven or more wins (2022), including six wins last year.ย

New York simultaneously made quality additions and lost key players during free agency.ย

Saquon Barkley departs for Philadelphia, but Brian Burns arrives from Carolina to bolster the defense.ย

Hereโ€™s a look at the NFL betting lines for New Yorkโ€™s 2024 win total.ย

Giants Win Total Odds

The Giants’ season win total is set at 6.5 games.ย

Based on pricing, itโ€™s predicted the Giants are more likely to finish with six or fewer wins. Currently, New York is -140 to finish under the total for an implied probability of 58.3%.ย

Conversely, the Giants are +115 to win seven or more games this year. That implies a probability of 46.5%.ย

Here are the 2024 NFL win totals for all NFC East teams:

There are two ways one could view the Giantsโ€™ 2023 season.ย

On the one hand, they ranked 26th or worse in both points and points allowed per game.ย

Based on expected record, they won 1.5 more games than expected, per pro-football-reference.com.ย

The more optimistic view is that despite so much going wrong for the Giants last year, they still managed to win six games.ย

Additionally, from Week 7 onward, the Giants ranked 10th in defensive EPA per play and sixth in pass defense EPA per play.ย

Of course, thatโ€™s without adjusting for strength of schedule. But adding Burns to the mix should see holistic improvement from New Yorkโ€™s defense.ย

Plus, although Barkley departed, the Giants replaced him with Devin Singletary, a serviceable running back.ย

The receiving trio of Darius Slayton, Wanโ€™Dale Robinson, and first-round pick Malik Nabers also gives Jones multiple options through the air.ย

But the biggest question with this team is how their revamped offensive line performs.ย

New York ranked 32nd in pass blocking grade and 30th in run blocking grade last year, per PFF.ย

A number of signings helped address that weakness, but it still remains a big unknown.

Iโ€™m inclined to believe thereโ€™s only room to improve, so it would be the over-or-nothing on New Yorkโ€™s win total. However, I need a better price to get involved.
