  • The 76ers are -3.5 against the Knicks in Game 6.
  • Philadelphia is 2-4 SU against the Knicks this season with Joel Embiid.
  • Why bettors should expect a low-scoring game on Thursday.

A Game 5 and series victory for the Knicks was snatched from the jaws of defeat for Philadelphia.

Down six with under 30 seconds left, the 76ers mounted a late comeback at Madison Square Garden to send the game to overtime. Then, they sent it to Game 6.

Still, the Knicks are prohibitive favorites to win the series. With a 3-2 advantage over the Sixers, New York is a -375 favorite to reach the second round.

Here’s a look at the NBA playoff odds and my prediction for Game 6.

NBA Playoff Odds – Knicks vs. 76ers

  • 76ers Moneyline: -150
  • Knicks Moneyline: +125
  • Spread: 76ers -3.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 200.5 Points
  • Series Price: Knicks (-375), 76ers (+300)

NBA Playoff Prediction – Knicks vs. 76ers

Total Under 200.5 Points (-110)

Bettors shouldn’t let Game 5’s overtime period influence their thinking for Game 6: points are going to come at a premium.

In Game 4, these sides combined for only 189 points in Philadelphia. Excluding overtime in Game 5, they managed only 194 points.

Plus, both teams have struggled to knock down 3-point jump shots, suggesting points could move at a slow pace.

Over the last two games, Philadelphia has shot only 33% from beyond the arc, while the Knicks have knocked down only 26.9% on their 3-point efforts.

Of both teams’ 148 combined made field goal attempts in the last two games, only 27.7% have come from beyond the arc.

That means both teams are doing an effective job forcing their opponent into the paint, where both teams excel defensively.

During the regular season, New York ranked sixth in opponent field goal percentage around the rim, according to dunksandthrees.com.

Philadelphia ranked 15th in that category, but I’d wager their ranking rises when Joel Embiid plays.

Essentially, this bet likely comes down to Philadelphia’s ability to continue playing outstanding defense.

In six games against New York with Joel Embiid, they’ve averaged only 101.8 non-overtime points per game.

Given they’ve held the Knicks under 100 points in two straight games, I’ll place my faith in the 76ers defense on their home court.

Add in the likely fatigue from an overtime game, and I’ll back the under on Thursday.
