You can watch the 2022 tournament at MGM Grand Detroit with a local legend, Derrick Coleman.
Coleman, a Detroit native who starred at Northern Senior High School before sensational college and NBA careers, will be at MGM Grand Detroit on March 19 and 20 for a public meet and greet. The former Big East Player of the Year and No. 1 overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft will be available for photos, autographs, and more as you watch second round games within the V Sports Viewing Area.
Thirty-five years ago, Coleman made the first of four straight tournament appearances at Syracuse; he scored 63 points over six games as the Orange reached the national championship for the first time in program history.
Three years and 143 career games later, Coleman left as the Orangeโs all-time leading scorer and rebounder โ and remains the leading rebounder โ in leading the program to 113 wins, the most over a four-year period in program history at that time. Prior to his arrival, Syracuse had never won at least 25 games or been ranked in the top of the final AP Top 25 in four consecutive seasons.
After 15 NBA seasons, during which he was a two-time All-NBA selection and became the second player in NBA history to record a five-by-five game, Coleman returned to Detroit in 2004 to play the final year of his career with the Detroit Pistons.
Stop by MGM Grand Detroit from 4-5 p.m. ET on Saturday or Sunday to meet Coleman, take photos, and talk about the NBA, his work in the community, or college basketball betting!
