March Madness consists of seven rounds, counting the First Four games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

March Madness Schedule Details

The four winners from the First Four games advance to the official first round, which has 64 teams. Those games are contested on Thursday and Friday, with 16 games each day. Teams that win move on to the Round of 32 played two days later.

The final 16 teams move on to the Sweet 16, with eight games being played on Thursday and Friday and winners moving on to the Elite Eight. Those four games occur on Saturday and Sunday, and the four regional winners go to the Final Four.

In 2023, the Final Four will take place in Houston, Texas, beginning April 1.
