Derek Carr: Saints Close to Acquiring Former Raiders Quarterback
Derek Carr was under contract with the Raiders โ first in Oakland, then Las Vegas โ for the first nine years of his career. His most recent contract, which extended through 2025, guaranteed Carr $40.4 million if he was still rostered by the Raiders on February 15.ย
The Raiders didnโt feel that Carr was worthy of an investment of that magnitude, so they cut him from the team on Feb. 14.
As an unaffiliated player with no contract, Carr is free to sign with whichever team he prefers. He doesnโt need to wait for free agency, which is when some players who are currently under contract will reach the end of their deals.
The Raidersโ decision could ultimately end up paying off for Carr and the Saints.
Saints News: Derek Carr Signing Not Yet Official
For now, all NFL fans have are rumors, though that hasn’t changed the NFL futures markets.
