Based on NFL betting lines at the BetMGM online sportsbook, I predict the Detroit Lions cover the spread (-3, -115) against the Cowboys as my first NFL Week 6 prediction.
Detroit carries two clear edges over the Cowboys that should lead them to victory.
First is that the Lions are fifth in PFF's rushing offense grades while the Cowboys rank dead last in the corresponding defensive category. This season, Dallas has struggled immensely against teams that can effectively run the ball.
Additionally, I'm wary of the Dallas offensive line against a strong Detroit pass rush that's second in PFF's pressure grades.
Finally, Lions head coach Dan Campbell has excelled with the Lions when he's provided with extended rest. Detroit is 12-5-1 SU under Campbell with eight or more days between games, irrespective of whether Campbell is a favorite or underdog.
