Parlays have long been a pillar of online sports betting. Bettors use their sports knowledge and betting savvy to build low-risk, high-reward wagers with lucrative potential. And while combining different sports into one parlay isn’t foreign to sports bettors, BetMGM’s Cross Sport Parlay takes multi-sport parlays to different levels of entertainment and betting value.

What is a Cross Sport Parlay?

Cross Sport Parlays are exactly as the name implies: It’s a parlay wager with legs across at least two different sports.

For example, on May 1, 2021, the following Cross Sport Parlay was available for BetMGM customers

  • Denver Nuggets to win
  • Edmonton Oilers to win
  • Vegas Golden Knights to win

The two-sport, three-leg Cross Sport Parlay carried odds of +625. If you placed a $100 bet online, the payout would’ve been $725 if all three teams won.

How to Bet a Cross Sport Parlay

Cross Sport Parlays are pre-packaged parlays; you don’t need to browse multiple sport- or event-specific pages in manually building a parlay.

If you wished to custom-build a $100 three-team parlay with the Nuggets, Oilers, and Golden Knights on May 1, you would’ve browsed the NBA betting and NHL betting pages, added the three moneyline bets to your bet slip, and placed the wager.

With Cross Sport Parlays, you make one bet from one page.

The day’s available Cross Sport Parlays are displayed on the Cross Sport Parlay page and other pages across BetMGM, oftentimes including the homepage and sport-specific pages like MLB betting, MLS betting, or NFL betting.

Why Bet a Cross Sport Parlay?

Why would you place any parlay bet? Maximum entertainment and increased odds, right? With Cross Sport Parlays, there’s a third reason.

If you custom-built the $100 three-team parlay with the Nuggets, Oilers, and Golden Knights, your betting slip would’ve been:

  • Nuggets ML (+160)
  • Oilers ML (-130)
  • Golden Knights (-200)

Stake: $10
Total Odds: +590
Potential Payout (inc. Stake): $690

Starting at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 1, your entire parlay would’ve started as all three games began at the same time. (The Nuggets and Oilers began at 8 p.m. local time, while the Golden Knights began at 7 p.m. local time.) And one hour later, with the Oilers and Golden Knights leading in the second period, and the Nuggets within five points halftime, you felt good about a +590 parlay.

You would’ve felt better with a +625 Cross Sport Parlay. And 90 minutes later, when Jonathan Marchessault scored a power-play goal in overtime to give the Golden Knights’ a 3-2 win, your payout would’ve been $725 instead of $690.

For the same bet, your payout would’ve been 4.3 percent higher.

Other Parlay Bets

While browsing Cross Sport Parlay opportunities at BetMGM, you can also take advantage of other parlay promotions and various sports betting promotions.

A One Game Parlay allows bettors to combine their favorite for one game. It’s an easy and unique way to feel the excitement throughout an entire contest regardless of the score or playoff stakes. Instead of waiting hours or days for a custom-built parlay to cash, a One Game Parlay cashes within the three-hour window of an NFL game or two-hour and 15-minute window of an NBA game.

BetMGM also offers One Game Parlay insurance to protect against agonizing losses, parlay boosts and Parlay Plus promotions to increase the reward without increasing the risk, and pre-packaged single-sport parlays.
