  • The Monte-Carlo Masters is the first major clay tournament of the season.
  • Novak Djokovic, who hasn’t played on tour in over a month, is the No. 1 seed.
  • Last year’s champion, Stefanos Tsitsipas, is the No. 2 seed.

The first significant clay tournament of 2023 is here. The Monte-Carlo Open draws big-time competition from top players on the men’s tour, all with a picturesque Mediterranean view.

It’s no wonder Monte-Carlo is such a popular fixture among tennis odds bettors and fans.

How Much Does the Winner of the Monte-Carlo Masters Make?

The winner of the men’s singles tournament at the 2023 Monte-Carlo Open will receive a cash prize of $974,571.

The total prize purse for ATP Monte-Carlo is $6,305,948.

Monte-Carlo Masters Schedule

Monte-Carlo Masters is scheduled to run through Sunday, April 16. The tournament quarterfinals are scheduled for Friday.

The Monte Carlo championship will be played on Sunday.

Monte-Carlo Masters Draw

Monte-Carlo Masters has 56 players in its main draw, including No. 1 seed and 22-time major champion Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic was unable to play many of the late-winter US hardcourt tournaments, like Indian Wells and the Miami Open, so Monte-Carlo is his first tour action since losing to Daniil Medvedev in Dubai on March 3.

The Monte-Carlo Masters draw features a collection of other high-profile players, like No. 8 seed Taylor Fritz, No. 6 seed Holger Rune, and Medvedev, who is playing as the No. 3 seed.

There’s also Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No. 2 seed, who won Monte-Carlo last year.

However, there are a handful of notable absences and last-minute withdrawals, including clay master Rafael Nadal, current world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, and Felix Auger-Aliassime.

One of Thursday’s top matches will pair No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev against compatriot Karen Khachanov, who is playing as the No. 9 seed. The match is priced as a toss-up at BetMGM.

Monte-Carlo Masters Bets for Friday, April 14

Taylor Fritz is always a popular target for American bettors, given his growing prominence as the top-rated player from the United States.

Like most Americans, though, Fritz is not much of a clay player. His overall fitness, athleticism, and skill levels are enough to get him deep into most tournament draws, but Fritz will not be a good bet against top clay players when playing in the dirt.

Tsitsipas is exactly the sort of matchup that’s unfavorable for Fritz. He’s one of the best clay players on tour; he’s also the reigning champion at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

I like Tsitsipas to win at -250 on Friday; I’m also loading up on Tsitsipas -2.5 (-145) and Tsitsipas in straight sets (+105).
