The 2023 French Open will run for three weeks, from May 22 through June 11.
The first week, May 22-27, is reserved for the qualifiers draw. More than five dozen players who were not extended invitations to the main draw will have the chance to play their way into the tournament by winning three consecutive qualifying matches against other players.
The main draw will begin the following Sunday, with plenty of French Open tennis odds available at the BetMGM online sportsbook.
As is usual for major tennis tournaments, the women’s championship will be scheduled for Saturday, June 10, and the men’s championship will be scheduled for Sunday, June 11.
When Does the French Open Start?
First-round matches from the main draw of the French Open will begin on Sunday, May 28.
The main draw of the French Open – when all the qualifiers have been sorted out, and the big-time matches will begin to be played – is generally what casual fans are imagining when they think about the official start date for the French Open.
Who Won the 2022 French Open?
Rafael Nadal, the Master of Clay, won the men’s French Open championship in 2022, defeating Casper Ruud, 6-3, 6-3, 6-0. Iga Swiatek won the women’s title, seizing on her second win at Roland Garros in three years.
Right now, it’s not known if Nadal will be able to defend his 14th French Open championship, as he is still recovering from a hip injury he sustained at the Australian Open in January.
