Three could be an important number for Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard, who aims to be the first player since 1992 to win a third straight 3-point contest during this yearโ€™s All-Star weekend in Chase Center.

After winning the 3-point contest in 2023 and 2024, Lillard enters this weekโ€™s event as the betting favorite (+400) to defend his crown. With a victory, Lillard would join Craig Hodges (1990-92) and Larry Bird (1986-88) as the only players to win the 3-point contest in three straight seasons.

The 3-point contest will be part of the All-Star festivities on Saturday evening on TNT. The first event will begin at 8 p.m. ET.

Hereโ€™s a look at the updated NBA odds and a prediction for this yearโ€™s 3-point contest:

NBA 3-Point Contest Prediction: Dame Time is Favored

Based on the latest NBA betting lines, Lillard is the betting favorite (+400) to win the 3-point contest during the 2025 All-Star weekend. His price tag gives him an implied probability of 20%.

With his performance last year, Lillard became the NBAโ€™s first back-to-back 3-point contest champion since Jason Kapono (2007, 2008). He joined Bird, Hodges, Mark Price, Jeff Hornacek, and Peja Stojakoviฤ‡ย in this group of back-to-back victors.

However, Lillardโ€™s victory last year came on his final shot of the event. Thatโ€™s why the betting odds are giving plenty of respect to the field in what could be a competitive contest.

While none of this yearโ€™s participants competed in 2024, Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat and Buddy Hield of the Golden State Warriors went against Lillard in 2023.

Hield, who advanced to the second round two years ago, will compete in this event for a fourth time. After winning it as a member of the Sacramento Kings in 2020, Hield is my pick to end Lillardโ€™s reign on Saturday.

Prediction: Buddy Hield (+500)

When is the 2025 NBA 3-point Contest?

The fun competitions for the NBAโ€™s All-Star weekend will begin at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday. The 3-point contest will be the second event. All festivities will be broadcast on TNT.

Who Won Last Yearโ€™s NBA 3-Point Contest?

Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard won the 2024 3-point contest in Indianapolis. He became the first repeat winner since Jason Kapono won the event in 2007 and 2008.

Who Has Won the Most 3-Point Contests?

Larry Bird and Craig Hodges hold the record for most 3-point contest victories with three apiece. Bird won the first three such events between 1986-88, while Hodges also won all three contests in consecutive years between 1990-92.

Lillard could join this exclusive group with a victory on Saturday after winning the 3-point contest in 2023 and 2024.
