  • The Detroit Pistons have the No. 5 pick in the NBA Draft.
  • Matas Buzelis is -165 to be the fifth pick in this yearโ€™s draft.

Despite posting the worst record (14-68) in the league last season, the Detroit Pistons earned the No. 5 pick in this yearโ€™s draft.

It marks the third year in a row for the Pistons to pick from the No. 5 spot, as the lottery balls havenโ€™t bounced their way since selecting point guard Cade Cunningham with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft.

The latest NBA Draft odds at the online sportsbook give basketball fans an idea of what the Pistons might do with the fifth pick:

Prediction for No. 5 Pick: Cody Williams (+800)

  • Pick originally made at +900 odds on June 18

Matas Buzelis is the betting favorite to go No. 5 overall to the Pistons, and honestly, that’s what I expect. I don’t mind paying the latest price on the chalky selection happening.

That said, Williams has always been my favorite bet for this draft slot. His NBA betting odds have improved from +900 to +800 since making this bet.

Williams, a 6-foot-7 forward, played one season at the collegiate level for the Colorado Buffaloes. He averaged 11.9 points per game on 55.2% shooting, including a 41.5% long-range effort on 1.7 attempts per contest.

The younger brother of Oklahoma Cityโ€™s Jalen Williams can play either forward position. Cody Williams has enough versatility and athleticism at his size to excite teams about his potential at the next level.

The Pistons could use someone like Williams as they continue building around Cunningham.
