  • The Cardinals host the Chiefs in Week 1.
  • Kyler Murray has been sensational as an underdog.
  • The Cardinals are 5-1 in September since 2020.

A new season of NFL odds and online sports betting has arrived.

Naturally, the BetMGM online sportsbook has a great offer that you can take advantage of: $1,000 Risk-Free First Bet for new customers.

If you’re a new bettor looking for a strong position for such a free bet, here’s one handicap to consider.

Week 1 NFL Best Bet for $1,000 Risk-Free Bet

When it comes to NFL betting odds, Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals have preposterous underdog stats.

Since Murray was drafted in 2019, Arizona is 18-8-1 ATS when playing as the underdog.

With the sample limited to just the last two seasons, the numbers get even crazier. Arizona is 9-3 ATS as a dog, with all nine covers coming as outright upsets.

Murray and the Cardinals host Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.

The Chiefs opened as 3-point road favorites; that number has been bet up to -4.5 and may continue rising throughout the week.

There’s been modest speculation this summer about how the Kansas City offense will fare without Tyreek Hill to stretch the back end of opposing defenses.

What we do know is that the Chiefs got off to a slow start in 2021, even with Hill.

The Chiefs could be in for a similar start this season. Just look at the first seven weeks of their schedule: Cardinals, Chargers, Colts, Buccaneers, Raiders, Bills, 49ers. Four of those games are on the road.

Arizona, on the other hand, is prone to fast starts. The Cardinals are 5-1 (straight up) in September over the past two seasons.

The conservative approach here is to buy Arizona +4.5 to keep it close with the Tyreek-less Chiefs’ offense.

But with a free bet available, why not play the trend at its most aggressive? If I had the free bet, I’d take the Cardinals to upset the Chiefs at +165 on the moneyline.
