Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will go down as one of the best wide receivers to ever play the game.

He has six 1,000-yard seasons and, throughout his career, has made over $111,000 million, making him one of the active career money leaders.

Hopkins will be 31 years old next season, and with a new coaching regime in Arizona, there are rumors he could be traded this offseason.

In September 2020, Hopkins signed a two-year extension worth $54.5 million with the Cardinals, which runs through the 2024 season.

With Hopkins’ extension, he’ll have an average annual salary of $27,250,000 in 2023 and 2024.

Hopkins will carry a cap hit of $30,750,000 in 2023 and $26,215,000 in 2024. Additionally, he has a dead cap hit of $22,600,000 in 2023 and $11,300,000 in 2024.

It was reported this offseason that Hopkins’ suspension in 2022 voided the no-trade clause in his contract.

If traded, his cap hits for his new team would be $19.45 million in 2023 and $14.915 million in 2024.

It’s doubtful Hopkins would sign an extension with the Cardinals unless it was part of a sign-and-trade.

An extension with a new team could happen to spread out his cap hits over more years. Since he will be 31 years old for the 2023 season, an extension for many years isn’t in the cards. It would likely be in the 2-3 year range, but that would be up to the new team to decide.
