Does the SEC Have More Players Drafted Than the Other Conferences?

Entering 2025, the SEC has led college football in draft picks for 18 consecutive years. Year after year, the SEC has more players drafted than all other college football conferences.

That trend is expected to continue in 2025 despite back-to-back Big Ten victories in the college football national championship odds market.ย

Power conferences have bulked up in recent years because of college football conference realignment and expansion. In the summer of 2024, that meant the addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the SECโ€™s already-stacked lineup.

Inevitably, this will mean even more NFL Draft selections from the SEC, which is now up to 16 teams. Texas alone has three projected first-rounders in PFFโ€™s latest mock draft.

College football bettors can sometimes overestimate what draft picks will mean in the strict context of the college football odds market.ย

But at least when it comes to the draft itself, there is little debate โ€“ the SEC reigns supreme.ย
