Drafted No. 9 in the 2019 NFL Draft, Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver has been a solid interior threat for one of the league’s best teams.

The Buffalo Bills defensive tackle is still on his first contract after being drafted in 2019. Out of Houston, Oliver signed a four-year, $19,565,156 deal with the Bills, including a $12,329,204 signing bonus, with $19,565,156  guaranteed and an average annual salary of $4,891,289.

Oliver’s deal was fully guaranteed, and his fifth-year option was exercised heading into 2023.

The 25-year-old carried a $6,260,276 cap hit in 2022. Oliver’s 2023 cap hit will be $10,753,000 after having his option picked up.

Oliver has continued to be a big presence on one of the NFL’s best defenses since he joined the league in 2019. The potential has always been there for Oliver, but consistency has been an issue since he made the jump to playing on Sundays.

The Bills have needed some help on the interior, and Oliver has been their best option, but it’s still an area that likely needs improvement moving forward. Still, there was a reason the team picked up his option, and there’s still hope he can continue progressing and finding more consistency every week.
