Josh Jacobs Contract: Salary, Cap Hit, and Possible Extension

Drafted No. 24 overall in the 2019 NFL draft, Raiders running back Josh Jacobs has proven to be an elite playmaker out of the backfield in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Raiders running back just completed the final year of his rookie contract since the Raiders declined his fifth-year option. The 2019 draftee signed a four-year, $11,933,398 deal with the Raiders, including a $6,698,836 signing bonus with $11,933,398 guaranteed and an average salary of $1,957,288.

The former Alabama standout was recently tagged with the non-exclusive franchise tag ahead of this year’s free agency. Jacobs will have a base salary of $10,091,000 in 2023 due to the franchise tag.

Jacobs’s deal allows him to enter free agency in 2024.

Josh Jacobs Potential Extension

Jacobs is coming off his best season in the league this past year. Under new head coach Josh McDaniels, the rising star rushed for 1,653 yards, caught 53 passes for 400 yards, and finished the season with 12 total touchdowns.

Although the Raiders are coming off a down year, Jacobs was one of the few bright spots for the team. If the running back can repeat the year he had under the franchise tag, the SEC product could be in for a considerable pay raise come extension time.

Comparing his numbers, age, and production to other star running backs in the league, Jacobs looks to be in line for a hefty payday. The running back could be in for an offer of four years, $51 million, and an annual salary of $12,750,000.

This would make Jacobs one of the highest-paid running backs in the league.
