Drafted No. 10 overall in 2012 by the Buffalo Bills, cornerback Stephon Gilmore was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in this past offseason.

Stephon Gilmore Salary

Gilmore was drafted by the Buffalo and played his first five seasons there before signing with the New England Patriots. After spending four years there, he then played for Indianapolis and Carolina before being dealt to the Cowboys.

In 2022, Gilmore signed a two-year, $20,000,000 contract with the Indianapolis Colts, including a $4,000,000 signing bonus, $14,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $10,000,000.

Stephon Gilmore Cap Hit

The 32-year-old carries a $9,920,000 cap hit in 2023.

Stephon Gilmore Potential Extension

Gilmore has been one of the NFL’s best shutdown corners over the last decade. Injury issues slowed him down in 2020 and 2021, but he’ll look to get back on track with Dallas. This is a good fit for him entering a contract year, and he can still be a higher-end player at the position. Gilmore was healthy in 2022 with the Colts and put together a strong campaign.

It’s difficult to see Gilmore establishing the value he once held as a top corner in the NFL, but he still has the potential to provide a team with value in the right fit. Another long-term contract should be out of the question.
