In college football, a Pro Day is a locally sponsored event, often hosted by a specific school, to showcase the talents of college football players who have dreams of playing in the NFL.

The NFL Combine, hosted in centrally-located Indianapolis, is the primary opportunity for many of the most high-profile college football players to showcase their skills in front of a small army of NFL scouts.

However, there are hundreds of draft-eligible players who either can’t make it to the NFL Combine or are not invited. For those players – who often play at smaller schools or are not considered blue-chip NFL prospects – a Pro Day is a chance to show NFL scouts that they, too, may have what it takes to play professionally.

Common activities at a Pro Day include the 225-pound bench press, the 40-yard dash, the three-cone drill, and other position-specific activities. Quarterbacks, for instance, may show off their arm power and accuracy with a series of throws.
