Despite the departures of Robert Woods and Odell Beckham Jr., the Los Angeles Rams’ offense is expected to be explosive again in 2022 under new offensive coordinator Liam Coen.
The first-time NFL coordinator will look to keep the Rams near the top of Super Bowl odds at the online sportsbook throughout the season.
Who is Liam Coen?
Liam Coen is in his first season as Rams’ offensive coordinator after spending last year in the same position with Kentucky. He’s replacing Kevin O’Connell, who was hired as Minnesota Vikings’ head coach last offseason.
The 36-year-old Coen layed quarterback at UMass for four years from 2004 to 2008 and was dominant in doing so, setting six of eight passing records at the school, which still stand today. Formerly the Rams’ assistant wide receivers coach (2018-19) and assistant quarterbacks coach (2020), the Rhode Island native began his coaching career began as quarterbacks coach at Brown in 2010.
Looking to repeat as Super Bowl champs, Coen will be in charge of making sure newly signed wide receiver Allen Robinson fits in their offense, along with finding new ways to keep star wideout Cooper Kupp involved.
In 2021, the Rams were ninth in yards per game on offense and the NFL’s eighth-highest-scoring team. This year, Coen will be focused on making sure there are no slip-ups in his first season on the job and that the offense doesn’t take a step back with very talented personnel.
