UFC action returns on May 31 at the APEX Center in Las Vegas, as ranked women’s flyweight contenders headline the card, as No. 4-ranked Erin Blanchfield takes on the No. 5-ranked Maycee Barber.
Due to her massive victory over former UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas in her previous meeting, Blanchfield heads into the match as the betting favorite with -250 UFC odds. This was also her seventh win inside the octagon since her promotional debut in 2021.
On the other hand, despite her six-fight win streak, Barber will be the +200 betting underdog.

I predict that Blanchfield will win by submission victory over Barber in the card’s main event because of her elite grappling skills that specialize in jiu-jitsu.
Although her takedown accuracy is only at a 32% rate, Barber’s takedown defense is also lowly at 54%, and once she gets a hold of her, she could work her way into a submission technique.
After all, half of Blanchfield’s wins in the UFC were via submissions, and I don’t think Barber will keep up with the grappling prowess of Blanchfield, especially if a takedown is secured in the opening stages of the fight.
The best route of victory for Barber is through striking exchanges, where she excels the most and where she can inflict the most damage. Add the fact that half of the wins in the UFC were also via TKO/KO stoppages.
Erin Blanchfield’s Recent Fight Results
Blanchfield was a former Cage Fury and Invicta standout who joined the UFC in 2021 with a professional record of 6-1. She made her octagon debut against Sarah Alpar and won by unanimous decision.
Since then, Blanchfield has won six of her seven matches, and several of her notable victories were against Molly McCann, Jessica Andrade, Taila Santos, and, most recently, Namajunas. Her only UFC defeat was courtesy of Manon Fiorot.
Maycee Barber’s Recent Fight Results
Barber was a former LFA standout who joined the Dana White Contender Series in 2018. She only needed one fight in the tournament to earn a roster spot under the Las Vegas-based promotion. She impressed in her octagon debut after a second-round finish of Hannah Cifers.
Following that dream debut, Barber won eight of her 10 matches to earn a spot in the division’s rankings. She currently rides a six-fight win streak with victories over Miranda Maverick, Montana De La Rosa, Jessica Eye, Andrea Lee, Amanda Ribas, and Kathlyn Cerminara.
