Kamaru Usman came up short against undefeated phenom Khamzat Chimaev in their middleweight world title showdown in the co-main event of UFC 294 on October 2023 after stepping in for Paula Costa on days’ notice. It was Usman’s debut in the 185-pound division after competing most of his career in the welterweight division. Also, it was only his fourth career loss in 24 fights.
